Why not "auto-x" for bikes?

This is a common event at all World Police/Fire games. It's a timed event for most of it but due to the types of exercises, slow speed control is a must. Slow straight line balance, tight turns, slaloms, emergency braking, etc. All to test the riders clutch/throttle/brake control and balance. The bike cops usually clean up at these things because they ride their hogs 10 hours a day. They get to ride their service bikes so it's kinda in their favour. The rest of us bring our own machines. The last one I was in:
1st - cop
2nd - cop
3rd - me
4th - cop
5th - prison guard

Most sportbikes are NOT designed for anything remotely similar to a car auto-x track. You would be in 1st gear for the entire track just trying not to wheelie and crash at every corner exit, muchless surging back and forth maintaining throttle control. My 954RR 1st gear goes to 80mph and my 2nd gear is garbage under 20mph. No offense, but that is probably the dumbest idea I've ever heard of [from someone that often rides sportbikes, to a non-rider or dirtbike rider I can understand their viewpoint].
For a dirt bike, standard, or super motard it could be fun, but in that case I'd stay on the dirt so when I crash I don't break my collar bone or my bike.

There was an organization in Dallas a few years ago called Sport Bike Hype. They hosted events that featured a straight-line stunt area as well as a cone-defined auto-x like course. They also did regular track events.
I think it'd be fun to slide one of these around an autocross course.
