Default Why I love the French.

Love is the wrong word. But it is nice to know that the French have hobbies besides eating snails, hating Americans and dropping rifles.

Hundreds of empty, parked cars go up in flames in France each New Year’s Eve, set afire by young revelers, a much lamented tradition that remained intact this year with 1,193 vehicles burned, Interior Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday.

His announcement was the first time in three years that such figures have been released. The conservative government of former President Nicolas Sarkozy had decided to stop publishing them in a bid to reduce the crime -- and not play into the hands of car-torching youths who try to outdo each other.

France’s current Socialist government decided otherwise, deeming total transparency the best method, and the rate of burned cars apparently remained steady. On Dec. 31, 2009, the last public figure available, 1,147 vehicles were burned.

Don't forget making the rich pay (via tax) for large homes, and being successful.

Did you hear how they wanted to take 75% for people making a million Euro? Who wants to make a million Euro when you can make $999,999 only.

That's not how taxes work. The RATE (in your case) would be 75% OF anything OVER a million Euros. So there is no way a base 1M income would have a less net income than a sub-base 1M net income.

Sorry to derail, but i'm one of those guys who like to correct people's their/there/they're's.

I guess it depends on what vehicles were burned. Recently my screen saver on the comp has been a sequence of post-war French "sporty" cars, and I get comments on the Ford-France Comete, the Rene-Bonnet D'jet and the Panhard 24CT. It would be a shame to see any of those burnt. Run-of-the-mill transportation boxes, eh, I guess I would not get excited.

Did you hear that this heart attack is unwarranted since French courts ruled this tax bracket unconstitutional?

IMO if i could make 1 million euro in a year. I certainly can have a account in switzerland or in another european fiscal friendly land. And paid an accountant to help me to avoid this kind of tax.

For the cars who are burned this only happend in places who are similar to your gettho.
This is a particulary dumb practice, because the poor youth people burnt car of other poor people who lived in the same place and need car to job. people focused by this attack are always (workers, retired person, white)
I think it's a mix of racism/poverty/Idiocy.

Wow.. that was harsh.. but I guess it depends how you define POS. Maybe one of the things in my garage is a POS? Is it the Honda CBR? the Audi A5 Cab or the 500+Hp Big Block 1970 Corvette?

If you haven't seen my vette recently, this is it being transported from the paint shop after I had the new hood fiited and painted.

The reason I needed a new hood..454+ cubes...Full Roller, big heads, 850 Holley, upgraded suspension, brakes, steering, fun fun. It hasn't been to the track because I don't have slicks and it really has trouble hooking up even at 1/4 throttle off the line.

Mine is the yellow one. This is porobably the POS you are referring to. Yes its ricey, but its reliable and good on gas, so it isn't all bad. Plus it is probably a lot faster than anything you own.

My garage. The 2011 Audi does have a VW motor, so maybe this is the POS?

For going really off road.. My girlfriends horse...Awesome Alibi.. aka Poopzilla, Poopzilla was a Nationally ranked Jumper at 3'6" and his poop makes awesome compost.
