Why do we talk about the 350Z more than the Z4 when the Z4 is closer to the S2000?

The 350Z could be a viable choice over the S2000 depending on what's important to you (more room, coupe, cheaper price, etc.)

I can't think of any viable reason to pick a Z4 over the S2000 unless you're obsessed w/ the brand and blind.

I was an owner of 99 MRoadster and i don't think I have to be the designer to judge a car by the looks.
I'm the CONSUMER.

The Z4 has more usable torque than the S2000 at a lighter weight than the 350Z. The Z4's handling should be a reasonable compromise between the direct-but-bitey S2000 and the safe-but-pushy 350Z. Lastly, styling is a very subjective thing; the Z4's styling isn't to my taste, but despite the flaming (no pun intended) it has received on this board, some people like the look.

Based on the car's merits, I'd definitely buy a Z4 3.0 over a 350Z Roadster. While I'm sure 287 hp must be fun, 3462 pounds is a whole lot of pounds. Z4 versus 350Z Coupe would be a tougher call, but I'm currently addicted to the wind in my hair.

Z4 is ugly, if a cars ugly it should at least be fast. I think camaros and firebirds are ugly, but i still respect them since they are fast. Not to mention it cost too much for something that ugly and that slow.

We got the 350Z Roadster for my girlfriend, sometimes I'm driving her car and it feels really nice. Last night we did a roll-on(from 25 mph) with a member of this board's S2000(just CAI) upto 120 we were side by side. S2000 was pulling very slowly. I don't think Z4 can be there performancewise. BTW ours is automatic transmission. Just like I stated in other threads 350Z is a nice cruising car, it won't handle corners like our S. I don't even think Z4 is something to talk about on this thread and waist time.

Isn't MSRP on the Z4 like $10k+ more than the S?

I would think the 350z gets compared to the S more simply because they're a lot closer in price.

My BMW salesman told me that he has two customers that did the unthinkable.

1) Traded a 2002-2003 S2000 on a Z4. The S is still for sale at the dealership.

2) A M3 owner traded his new E46 coupe on a new E46 Cab. The ///M is now the dealer tester...

Sometimes I'm ashamed to be a bimmer owner...

i think people tend to compare the the S to the 350 cause of fact that both are japanese imports.

It's not just price that puts the 350Z ahead of the Z4, it's perceived VALUE for what they charge.
