Why do used exotics have such low mileage?
The I have found my next car... thread linked to a web page from D&M Motorsports, which I assume deals in used exotic cars. But looking at those listings got me thinking, why do used exotics have such low mileage? There is a 2001 Qvale Mangusta with 800 miles, and there is a 2003 Lotus Esprit with 361 miles. The mileage seemed too high for them to be new cars, and too low for them to be used. So why did the original owner buy the car? What did s/he do with it during all the year(s) of ownership -- obviously not driving it.

some people just like having fine things, regardless of whether they can or will use them. Like having fine watches. You cannot reasonably wear more than one, but many people have numerous watches, just to look at and appreciate their function and appearance, and wear on special occasions.

First off I wouldn't call the Lotus Esprit an Exotic. Why would you want to drive an Exotic much? It would get nics in the paint, someone is GUARANTEED to rear end or hit you, everone wants a ride, miles = terrible value.
