We'd have no hybrids in this country at all if they'd quit dicking around and bring some good diesels here like the euro Civic 1.7L. 60 mpg and looks cool. I'd be first in line for one.

I would do it for the environmental reason, & "other," of hating our countries dependency on foreign oil. I realize there are some other good non hybrid alternatives (ala Fit), I would look at them too. And yes, I did like the interior of my parent's Prius. It had some cool features & layout.
In general, the people talking about fun to drive. It is subjective. You have to realize that this car is not going to compare to an S2000 for fun to drive, but's it's more apt comparison is what 95% of the other people drive. The Civic's/Accords & Carollas & Camrys. Those are rather uninteresting transportation mobiles as well.

So turbo diesel's make great torque when it's needed and get outstanding highway mileage. Hybrids get great mileage when you're in stop and go traffic and don't need power. Why aren't car companies combining the two with a turbo diesel hybrid?

I would never buy one.
1) Google the articles comparing the environmental impact of a Prius compared to a H2 Hummer. The battery production is about 10x more harmful than the emissions from the Hummer.
2) I can find a car that gets 30+ MPG for WAY less money
3) Have fun finding a mechanic who knows how to work on them once they get old enough to need it
4) You can get something like a Fit or xD for less than sticker. People are still paying OVER sticker for hybrids.

Only reason I would buy a hybrid is for solo carpool/HOV lane access. They issued 85,000 such permits here in CA.
