so sad that marketing gets to so many people. in every test, the mid engined cayman shows potential to out do the 911 if it were given more power. the carerra gt is mid engined. in any case, i was looking for a specific and constructive answer, not rhetoric like its good cuz its good. the boxster is more fun because it has less polar interia, turns in better, feels lighter and nimble.

they are highly intrinsically flawed cars that have compensatory engineering and mythical reverence, in an industry of mediocre cars
new GT3 looks very cool....from the outside...
Cayman S: no top end, power understeer, no room for your left foot,
wake me up for the turbo model with LSD....ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz...

How much are used GT3's going for these days? I'd love to own one in the future.
Here is some link to the price speculation thread.

Of the all the Porsche forums it seems that Rennlist has the most mature people with the best posts on the Cayman - I especially liked one summarizing an experience with the Base Cayman. I'd link it in if the forum had links for each thread - don't know why that is - so here it is:

Drive a 911 on the Bundesautobahn 5 (time it right when traffic is light)and continue on into the Swiss Alps. And you will understand.
Wife loves my 997 can't stand the S. Drive a S at top speed for a extended amount of time (Silver State Challenge) and you will understand as well. Porsche has "it" and the Honda doesn't. For a entry level car the Honda is not too bad and for 1/3 the price point it has been okay and I should demand more from the 911.

the 911 is as much legend as it is anything else... a lot of people have posted on the basic idea... but the 911 of today is revered because of its history and its place in motorsports...
the rear biased designed is intrinsically flawed and many a "famous" owner has crashed or worse, in their 911 because it was unstable under unskilled/spirited driving...
very few cars had a flat engine...much less one in the back...no other car looked like this car... and after 40 years...the fundamental design and platform remains a icon...
through the 60's and 70's and forward, the car was "deemed" unstable...it was dangerous... it was the car of choice for rich guys who wanted to live on the edge... "upscale" women considered guys who drove it to be exciting... they considered the car exciting...you know how women get excited with the prospect of danger... well...this drove rich guys to it more... so the car grew more in what it stood for than how it performed...it was more about the lifestyle it implied...
then there was the actual motorsports... where skilled drivers were able to have unprecedentant success with this platform... this grew grassroots popularity and respect for the car.. so the car is regarded highly in many circles...
porsche offers excellant motorsports support...in addition to unbelievable customizaton and personalization options... thus making it not just the sports car...but the status car...
