[QUOTE=VTEC_Junkie,Aug 24 2004, 05:47 AM] saab owners tend to be the young "hip" metropolitan professionals who prefer something different than the typical "baby" bmw, mercedes, or audi.

well i thought no1 but old wierdos bought saabs until my mom and i went out to testdrive cars and bought one. We wanted a 6 speed TL (she doesnt drive auto), but they werent gonna be able to deliver for 6 months (at the end of 2003). So on the way home we just thought we'd stop by the saab dealer thats right next to our house. We testdrove a 9-5 Aero. As soon as she got comfortable and stepped on the gas we were hooked. The variable boost makes up to 273 ft/lb of torque from 1900-4000 rpm. This makes it so fun to drive because there is no waiting for power. It doesnt roll much and handles pretty well for a front driver, although a side of this is a kind of harsh ride. Although it doesnt come with navi and stuff like that, it is just so comfortable. Heated/airconditioned seats that are well bolstered and made of soft leather. Its easy to find a nice driving position, and the dash kind of wraps around the driver. the steering is nicely weighted but gets lighter as u gain speed. lots of space in the back and in the trunk. 240 watt 9 speaker stereo, and although not 5.1 it is still very clear and has good bass. auto dimming mirrors and auto wipers, self leveling bi-xenon headlights w/fogs, its pretty good on gas. outside the 17's are 5-spokes, not flashy but still nice, wrapped in P Zero's. The best part of having this car is that we have not seen one black 2004 9-5 Aero yet, and its hard to say that with most other somewhat attractive cars. I think the bottom like is that saabs are different enough to be attractive. They have little things about them like the seats, the ignition in the middle, the dash that wraps around the driver that make them feel like saabs. oh yea i forgot, the TURBO. 1.4 bar of boost (isnt that around 19 psi), makes itmuch more fun. here r some pics of the car, after i attempted to wash it (i hate water marks!). i wish she would lower it a little but after all she IS a mom.

Didn't read any of the posts above, but as a previous leasee of a 2000 Saab 9-3 I can tell you the cars are very sound. I didn't have any problems in 3 years of ownership and I abused the hell out of it because it was a lease. It's safe, roomy, and had enough punch to get the job done when necessary. Comfortable on long trips as well, I think Saabs are cars for people who just want something that they know will get from point A to point B and not have to worry about anything in between.
I was a leasee also, and I pretty much had the same exact experience that turbopwr had.

No problems at all in the 50K miles that I drove this thing, and I drove it HARD. Very comfortable, great highway cruiser, and very safe. I rolled my Saab and I walked out with external injuries at all.

Also, in the 50k miles that I had the car, I only changed the oil 3 times.

Car was solid (besides the incredibly shitty handling).
