There is no need to joke about it. Americans are fat, lazy, stupid, or some combination thereof. This should come as no surprise to anyone who has ever lived here, met someone born here, seen our television, listened to our radio, or in this case, seen the crap-ass quality consumer products produced by American workers.
Have you ever been to Japan? Have you ever talked to the American workers you are bashing? Contrary to you idiotic post, not all American products are poorly assembled or of low quality and NOT all Japanese products are good. Just look at Buick's initial quality vs Mitsubishi. In this case, as we are talking about assembly, initial quality is the appropriate number.
Lets look at the audio industry. Japan is no where in the high end audio industry. Sony came to the US for their absolute no limit speakers just a few years back. Companies like Martin Logan, Krell, Mark Levinson, and Wilson Audio play in a realm that few Japanese makers can touch.
In short, your statement is just not true.

Good examples...don't forget Rogue Audio though...if you're into sweet/neutral sounding tubed equipment

Nothing new. The Civic Si hatch is built in the UK, the BMW Z4 and Z3 were built in the U.S., alot of the VW are built in Mexico or something (except for Wolfsburg editions) and some Audi TTs are made in Hungary.
Perfectly normal in the auto industry.
