When you were a kid, what was your first dream car?

I had a red 69 fastback Mustang that I bought after I saw Bullett with Steve McQueen. It had a a 351 Cleveland with Shelby everything: headers, cam, huge Holly carb, high rise manifold, hogged out block with bigger pistons, Mallory dual point ignition, Hurst shifter, tricked out suspension. That car was fast! Not as fast as my C7 Vette, though. (See my sig at the top of this page.) I loved that car!

I'm a late bloomer, I used to only think of cars as a point A to B tool...lol sometimes I wish I stayed that way, it would have saved me a ton of money over the past decade
The first car that really caught my attention was my high school buddy's gray Evo 9

'69 Z28. My dad talked about a friend who had one all the time. This is still on my short list.

This:
But when I got to drive one with a modded 390, I was disappointed. It's like meeting your childhood hero and finding out he's a different person. Or like a girl you'd only sleep with once...

I don't think I'd be disappointed if I get to drive or own a BOSS 429 mustang. It's a classic. You'd have to recognize that it rides like a 60's car with all of its short comings.

That was Steve McQueen's green 68 Mustang in Bullett. The best chase scene ever filmed, in my opinion!

I do understand the shortcomings of a 60's car. But for me, owning one was more of having a cool looking car than a very nice driving one. I don't know how a completely rebuilt one with multilink suspension, upgraded rack and brakes handles but I bet that would erase my disappointment. But with very limited funds and limited garage space, I had decided it wasn't for me. Maybe if I had the money for it to be my 10th or 20th car then definitely yes I would buy one... I just figured that there are more cars out there that give more of a driving enjoyment than this one. Thats just me of course
