When you were a kid, what was your first dream car?

When I was little, like under 10, I was determined that the 3000GT would be my first car. But I would soon after own a Ferrari. 355 has always been my favorite. I'm not big on the Mitsubishis anymore, but I would still pick up a 355 cash flow permitting.

I mean there are a slew of dream cars but the z32 was the one that did me in.

How many aspire to own their childhood dream car(s)? Can't say it very high on my list. Owning my dream marque's are more reasonable at this point.

The car that made me like cars was Herbie. I'd still love to build a replica. My 3-year-old brain had an entire set of physics laws that went with Herbie, and I was not open to argument on them:
1. In order to oversteer, you have to go 100 MPH.
2. Only Herbie can go 100 MPH.
3. In order to "do a pop-a-wheelie," you have to go 100 MPH.
4. See Law #2.

Herbie was just auctioned off a couple of weeks ago, saw it on TV, it went for like $110,000! So I say that was a good pick.

Had to be a Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Countach, but I loved my grandpa's early year Mustangs. The Testarossa and 80's style GTO came out in 1984, the same year as I was born, so they are very memorable to me.
Later on, when I got a calendar in 1992 (think it may have been my first or second calendar ever) that had an F40, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Porsche 959, Ferrari GTO, Lamborghini Diablo, and a few others, the F40 became my instant favorite, and remains so to this day. No other car catches my eye quite like an original red Ferrari F40, regardless of the money and technology put in, it will always be the sexiest car to me. The McLaren F1 comes pretty dang close and seems incredibly well engineered, and I instantly fell in love with that car, but the F40 remains my "favorite". Guess I could say to me it is like the Cindy Crawford, or Adriana Lima of supermodels... cars.

Growing up, my brother was all about the Countach (remember the Cannonball Run opening?), and I was more into the Testarossa. Then one of dad's Autoweeks landed in the mailbox with that F40 on the cover. And that's the first car I really went gaga over. Just happened to see one at the exotics showroom as I was driving past the other day - still turns heads just like the day it came out. That thing is still bad-ass.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat as the two of you, almost to the letter.

Ferrari 308 was my dream car followed by 68 mustang fastback.

I came close a couple of years ago but couldn't find a 308 I was comfortable buying ended up with a Mondial 3.2 liter coupe which I really ended up enjoying. I sold the mondial to get back to my original goal of getting a 308 but prices have recently hit the roof so it won't be happening anytime soon.
