Just wondering, what year did honda introduced VTEC in civics?
Im looking into getting a beater for a daily driver.

In the mid 1980's the first VTEC engine was introduce in the JDM Civic hatch.

I believe first US app was the NSX, then the Integra 1.7 VTEC in 1993.

1991 NSX was the first Acura. 1993 Prelude H22 was the first US Honda.

I think that the first VTEC application was the 88 JDM CRX... with the B16A1 it was cool man, the hood doesn't lump DOWN, rather it has a bulge UP.. it looks nice.

The 1992 integra gsr was the first integra year with 1.7 liter vtec with
160 hp.

1992 Integra 1.7L [B17A] was first car (other than the NSX) with VTEC for both intake and exhaust. The B17A was a "stroked" version of the B16A that was in use in Japan for a while.

The others (e.g., Civics) at the time only had VTEC for the intake timing.
