Default which wheels does the ebrake hold?

my friend and i were debating this, when you put up the handbrake, does it clamp on the rear wheels only, front wheels only, or all four at once?

I've never heard of any modern car's handbrake working on the front wheels. Maybe something foreign or from many many years ago, but these days, so far as I know, it's 100% rear wheels only.

Follow the e-brake cable and see where it goes.

that's what i thought. my friend with a 300zx claims his handbrake applies brakes on all four wheels...i think he's a little mis-informed. do people actually mod their cars to apply to all four wheels?
