I can't bear to watch it, retarded host pretty much sums it up. I ran across it flipping channels and saw him beating up a beaten up 80s model vette. He was going on about how easy it was to break the beck end loose if you aren't careful. Then they take off the wheels to get everything cleaned up, one of the back tires was bald, the other was a retread.

What's crazy is he said he made a little under 400 quid. However, with all the time and effort they put in, gas driving to and from, etc, etc, there is no way they broke even on that car. As TypeSH said, shop work alone was at least three full days of work, so probably 1200 quid at a minimum for a basic mechanic. They definitely lost money on it, except it's a TV show so they don't pay for labor on the car, specifically.
I think the car was worth a lot more than that, too.

I like the show. Not surprisingly the monetary impact of each car isn't accurate. The host can be annoying, I like how a brit is talking about how american electronics are bad, because jaguars, astons, and range rovers are renowned for their rock solid electronics, lol.
In any rate, I like the show because 1) they talk about cars that we peasants can associate with 2) the somewhat annoying host's enthusiasm is infectious and 3) I like the mechanic, very well versed and I find his portion infotaining.
I would love to see them do more cars that we have here in the states.

Except they put no value on Edd China's time. He spends several days on the cars and their typical few hundred in profit wouldn't ever make it worth it to Edd if he was charging them.
Plus 2 guys spending a week on a car and they make AT MOST $300 to split?
(this without factoring in the value of Ed's Time?!)
Yeah.
Plus the host thinks EVERYTHING is a "CRACKING BIT OF KIT."
Seriously, come up with a new phrase.
And yet I've watched 10+ episodes.
So it must be a good show

I too enjoy the show, but then i enjoy most car related content, not nascar, no offense intended.
i also find the host a bit of a douche and the premise financially off, but i love to watch ed china, how he explains his thinking how he does his work,etc...
i also suspect all this is planned out by production assistants prior to shooting and parts are aquired in record time, the work coming out cosmetically not first rate but functional....in the end the buyers are prearranged and deals made prior to shooting.
a nice concept and why can't we have simple little shows like that, one perky host , maybe a comedian, and one choice mechanic in a little industrical condo with a lift and some tools?

It may not make business sense, but it gives the average joe at home an idea of what he can do to fix up his own car with a bit of elbow grease, which I like. All the shows like that in the States just showcase new parts from 3rd parties or high end cars that are hard to associate with.
