You can say there is no way you would buy a car with 150 miles on it as new, but as a former lot boy at a crappy Dodge dealership, some stupid shipper or dealer employee can do more just as much damage to a car with 10 miles on it as one with 150.

One of our dealer employees wanted to see what would happen if you threw a new dodge colt into park at 40 mph. He smashed the windshield with his head. Who knows what happened inside the tranny after he locked it up but it still ran fine. After new glass we still sold the car new with about 20 miles on it.

We had lots of times where we had cars with 100 miles or so, and it was usually because the boss, the owner, a salesperson, or one of the hot office women who the boss was doing wanted a car to take up north for the weekend. They would get a few highway cruising miles on them.

150 miles would not make me walk from a car I wanted, but you can try to haggle a little more because of it.

my 1990miata had 10 miles on it, i put 5 of them on for the test drive. my honda had 75 i have no issues with that. i have bought a car which was a test drive car with 200 miles on it...no matter, just the car, it is new and the mileage matters to some, not to me...sure if it had say 500 miles on it that would be used in my book.

I've sold them with as low as .9 miles (shelby cobra, we pushed it around the lot with the ignition off because the customer didn't want anyone else driving it, he paid 17k over list so we did as requested), and as high as 8000 miles for a demo'd 07 navigator. Generally a car will have 12 miles on it when it hits the lot, from building, shipping, and delivery inspection test drive, then it gets anywhere from 5-10 miles for each test drive it goes on. Most have between 30 and 100 when they're sold.

my m3 had 16 miles on it and i know no one (except bmw techs) test drove it because i was there when the car was unloaded from the truck and i was watching the techs PDI my car, and watched them detail it, confused as to how those miles got there, do they test drive the cars for that long when they build it?

My S2000 either had 6 or 8, I forget. Before that, my Prelude had 101 because it was driven in from another dealership.
