Or really, a beater Civic with a stick will teach you exactly how the S2000 is going to be, but completely different
Not exactly at all.

If you get the Miata and become accustomed to its wonderful steering feel, you might not want to trade up.

Get a Miata now for practice so if you wreck it, you can then buy an S.

Learning to drive manual is not the same as learning to drive a rwd car. This is like telling him to buy an 18-wheeler because it has rwd and will teach you how an S2000 will be, but far heavier...
Read the post again. He's not asking a car to learn how to drive RWD in. He already has a RWD BMW. He just needs to learn how to drive a manual transmission.

RSX Type S if you can afford it...6 speed manual with a high revving engine and a nice transmission. While it is FF, it will at least let you learn how to drive manual and keep a car in its powerband.

Other than that, a manual is a manual. If that's all you are looking to get out of the car, find a very old manual - it will teach you amazing things since they didn't come with the 'amenities' that todays manuals do.

There is some truth there...
If you get a 3rd gen Miata at least the speed difference isn't as big. The first gen cars were slow but had GREAT steering feel.

Because in the real world people kick other people's asses for the cars they drive rather than because someone is an ass.
