What's faster around the track a street bike or a car?

Motorcyclist mag did a car vs. bike comparo about a year or so ago.
Z06 Corvette vs. GSXR 1000, among the best choices poss.
Kevin Schwantz, who has proven himself in both motorcycle and car competion at professional levels, did the testing for both cage and bike.
The GSXR smoked the Z06 really bad...I don't remember any stats, but they pointed out that the GSXR would lap the Z06 something like once every eight laps.
IIRC, it was done @ Willow Springs.

The Grand Am DPs (not a fast race car)were about 2 seconds faster than the AMA Superbikes around Barber Motorsports park. The bikes have a better power to ratio but at least at that track it wasn't enough to overcome the superior corning speeds of the cars.

Sorry, but the Motorcyclist test was farcical. Kevin Schwantz is a former world champion at the highest level of bike racing. He's won a semi-pro level NASCAR style race in cars once. The level of skill is not to be compared.
Schwantz's best time, contrary to Motorcyclist's claims, wasn't anywhere near the T1 record, which is held by a Z06 and was faster than Schwantz's best time on the Gixxer, let alone his Z06 time. The cornering forces generated by Schwantz in the Vette were nowhere near the capabilities of the car, even on the Michelins, let alone a fast DOT race tire like a Hoosier. Hell, a NA S2000 on high wear street tires has gone almost as fast as Schwantz did on DOT race tires in the Z06 (see www.opentrackchallenge.com).
Finally, for the most damning evidence, how about this link. Please note the driver's professional qualifications and the tires used (again, not Hoosiers! )
