[QUOTE=NuncoStr8,Feb 26 2010, 02:29 AM] I'd ask you to elaborate. It's my experience that raspy exhausts sound much better at full throttle under load, not just revving in a parking lot. But 90% of the time you are at part throttle driving city streets where everyone has to hear your ass-sounding car. WTF?

Nobody believes the car they see in rush hour traffic on the freeway is "more at home on the racetrack," because if that was so they wouldn't see it except on the racetrack. the reality is that people buy raspy foul-sounding exhausts for their BMW for the same reason people buy fart-cannons for their Honda - it sounds OK inside the car, and they are ignorant and/or stupid with more intention than action.

I like BMW engines, but the idiot aftermarket raspy exhausts aren't the reason why for me. There are plenty of exhausts for that car that sound good at all rpms. There is no excuse for a raspy sound to BMW's.

I agree that Porsche's flat 6 sounds awesome.
But best sounding car under $40k NEW, R32 hands down. Absolutely no comparison.
Just my opinion, of course.

The Kenne Bell Cobra was easily the best sounding car in this thread so far.

Maybe not the best, but it wins the "OMG the world is about to end" award.

Well if not the Cobra than the F355. Didn't see that one at first.

i think this sounds pretty good on a cayman s.
What a stunning fabulous sound on those fly-by runs! Best sound this side of a 917 on the Mulsanne straight. No, not Ferrari V12 great, but egad, what a freaking marvelous sound.

I love the sound boxers.

Thanks for posting. I must have replayed those fly-bys 20-25 times.

If you thought that was nice, check out the 997 Carerra S (not part of this list since it is quite a bit more pricey than $50K)
