I have to throw a flag on some of these picks, how many Ferrari roadsters have been made? Probably one day production of the Miata = all the Cobra and Ferrari roadsters made.

Considering price, S2000 of course. It's why I purchased one.
Price no object... Original Porsche 550A Spyder, definitely. (If you're talking modern cars, only the new Boxster S interests me given your constraints. Hmm, or perhaps a DB9 Volante.)

Here's the criteria (so we don't have Carrera GT or F430 spider being picked)..by roadster I mean lightweight mass produced 2-seat vert.

Hard one to answer because I have only driven a few. I would say Miata because it is one of the three roadsters I have driven was fun and the price point was afordable for just about anyone.
But I can only remember driving an S2000, a few Miatas, a Z3, an Bertone X19 and a Kharman Ghia. The last two should not really be even considered as serious cars. Oh yeah and a mid 80's Jag with a 12 cyl, but that car was kind of a piece of crap IMO. XJ12?
If I can list ones that I have not driven, that old silver Porshche is a BEAUTIFUL little car.
