what to look for and look out for on a 00 s2k
Hi
I'm really close now to buying either a miata or a used s2k.
As a friend drives a miata I know the car and it's problems fairly well and know what too look out for when buying a used one.
Unfortuenetly I dont know as much about the Honda except for what they write in reviews, but those seldom point out the flaws of the car only a long term owner experiences.
So was wondering if anyone here could tell me what I should look/listen for when testdriving/inspecting a 00 s2k.
What are the most common and expensive to fix problems with this car and at what age of the car do they show up?
Tried searching the faq for this info but did not find anything apologies if I missed it.
Cheers

Well, if you did the search, you obViously did not spend too long doing it...
There is TOOOONS of info on this board.
Top of my head, the first thing I would look at/for would be:
*Smoothness of shifting into 2nd gear...there is a TSB on this so you "might" be able to get this fixed, even if after warranty. Check w/the dealer first.
Hopefully other people will chime in w/their ops. Good luck in your find.

The clutch buzz is a pretty annoying problem with that MY so you want to make certain that it's had the TSB done. Don't take their word for it, drive the car and in 2nd or third gear rev to around 5Krpm and let your foot off the accelerator but dont touch the clutch. If it makes an annoying buzzing sound between 4k and 3k then the clutch springs are too soft and it will always make that crappy sound.
Go to the library page on this site and check out all of the tsbs and you can decide which ones are important to you and make sure that they have been carried out. Other than that there is just the usual things like carfax etc.
