what the honda fit should be
disregarding style looks etc (i think it looked ok) the fit should have been like this: 60mpg, turbo 3cyc, 1600lbs, 2 seater hatchy. the whole thing not a big bag of shiz, looked somewhat easy to maintain, no big technology bump.

Yeah. A whopping 61 hp and a 0-60 time of roughly 20s (I'm not joking) and a top speed of 85 mph. Not exactly sporting in nature, which the Fit is.
It gets great fuel mileage - that's about it. No storage room, no room for more than two people (and that's tight), no real convenience, and you're dead if you get hit.

Why would Honda make a car that's just like the Smart? Benz already did. The Smart is not exactly a useful car. It's a novelty that's mostly used for advertising. They're running around all over the place around here. The market has finally been more or less saturated now and dealers have these little buggers sitting on their lots. The "novelty" has worn off.
They only take diesel, you can't do an oil change easily at home because there is no drain plug so you need to buy a suction pump for over a hundred bucks. There is no spin off/on oil filter. Each scheduled service is $200.00 and each alternating service is $300.00. Where's your economy now?
Maybe if they brought over the gas powered one, put in a drain plug and incorporated a spin on filter, they might see another epiphany. Or maybe when the 4-seater gets here.

You'd be dead in the Fit as well.
