khappucino, I've tried looking for a crx, but there are not that many on sale.

So, right now I'm down to two cars.

white 1991 Nissan sentra se-r with sr20de, ? miles for $1800

teal green 1995 Honda civic ex coupe with 190k miles for $2000

is that civic a good deal?
kbb gave me 4000, 2000, 700
dealer, private, trade in
Don't forget to think about scheduled maintence issues.

That Civic needs its timing belt changed every 90,000mi. At 190,000, it should have just had it changed for the second time. If it did not, you are looking at a $750+ timing belt waterpump job and your $2000 Civic suddenly became a $2750 Civic.

The Sentra's SR20DE, on the other hand, has a timing chain that has no replacement interval.

Also in general, make sure you pay very close attention to obvious wear items that you can visibly inspect. Does the car have 4 good tires with plenty of tread left? Do the brake pads/shoes have plenty of meat left? Is the clutch strong, or is it slipping and mushy? Again, your $2000 car can very quickly become a $3000+ car if you need to replace a bunch of stuff on the car right away just to get it registered...

Mike Garrison and Khapuccino, how long does it take to get a car inspected? Also, how much?

You know what Rockville? I completely agree with you. I am biased when it comes to imports vs domestics. I know it's stupid, but I can't help myself.

Shift_S2K, I don't like corolla's looks and celica is too small for me. I need more room than a celica, because I will be carrying a lot of things to and from my school.

aklucsarits, thx for useful advice. I will definitely look into timing belt and scheduled maintenance.

OK

Given your cargo needs I still strongly suggest one of the Mazda based Proteg/Tracer/Escort sibs. They are available as a hatch. Having owned small sedans and hatches I love the hatch.

One more thing, I used to own a '91 Corolla wagon. Not exactly a sports car but, the seating position was good and the gear shift was canted towards the driver like an AC Cobra! I loved the placement of the shifter. If nothing else it would be worth a drive just to check out the great shifter placement and gauges too.

Dio, I've looked up Integras, but they are more expensive than Civics. Civics also have better gas mileage.

I wanted to stay away from American cars, because my friend has a 1997 Ford Taurus and that car drives like a piece of dump. Also, a/c breaking, door not opening, etc. So many little things bothered me.

Cataclysm, let's just make things easy.

You sell your car to me.
where do you live? have you look into craigslist? i saw a few 90-91 integra in the 2k range, maybe their asking price is over 2k, but you can definitely talk down the price. another car you might wanna consider is the 1st gen mr2. those are pretty fun car as well the 4ag engine is reliable as hell and gets pretty decent gas mileage.

Okie people

No more searching for me. I have purchased a car around 12 30 am of 12/22/2005.

white 1991 nissan sentra se-r with 40k miles jspec sr20de engine

I paid $1600 for it.

I need to fix power steering belt(it squeeks when not warmed up) and pump(possibly). I also need an alignment. When I fix those, this car should be fun.

Thank you all for your help.

btw, does anyone know a good forum for this car?

www.sr20forum.com is the best site for B13 Sentra SE-Rs and other SR20xxx-powered cars.

I've had my 1992 SE-R for 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems with it. They are fun, reliable cars.

thx blitzsrm

I'm going to try and post pictures tomorrow. Not that anyone asked for them, but I like to show off.

What is a good site to post pictures through?

Wow, that's a sweet deal. If I saw one like that with such low miles at 1600, i'd picked it up FAST. Where did you find the deal?

I picked up my 95' Accord for less than any comparable Civics. It was just one of those deals that you stumble upon by picking up the paper early one morning.
