I prefer going to my local full service, yes, they wash the window, Exxon station. I don't know if the gas is any better, but I feel I'm supportng a local businessman and when it's -10, I'm not the one standing in the cold. And if I have a nail in the tire, I know he (or his crew) will be there to repair it in a matter of minutes.

I don't know how the distribution system is set up where ya'll live, but in California, all the gas flows through the same pipelines. The only difference is that each company puts in their own additives (at the point where the trucks are filled from the pipelines). In my humble opinion, the only reason to pay for name-brand gas is if you want to avoid MTBE.

So yeah, I go to the cheapest place thats convenient. In a bind I'll choose 76 over chevron or shell (they use ethanal instead of MTBE--have the others switched by now>?)

O...and not to be a total hippie, but Shell is a pretty ing evil company. THey are pretty much solly responsible for the environmental rape of Nigeria.
