Default What gas station do you go to?

Hey!

Is there any difference between different gas stations? (premium)

I normally go to Shell becuase i was told it had better gas and it "Cleans ur engine!"

If there isnt any difference, i might as well go to cheaper gas stations.

I don't know if there's any real difference between brands and stations, but I just fill up at whichever station happens to be most convenient. Sometimes that's Shell, sometimes that's a no-name brand...

One big issue is sulfur content. My 4Runner couldn't handle high sulfur gas. The lowest sulfur fuel was BP / Amoco Premium.

I usually look for it for both the 4Runner and the S2000.

I've been running fuel, regular or premium as appropriate, from Diamond Shamrock for "years!" I've never had a problem with it and it's generally the least expensive gas where I live, sometimes as much as 7 to 8 cents a gallon cheaper than the major brands like Shell and Chevron.

When I'm on the road, I tend to stick the the national brands though. Shell, Chevron, Exxon, Texaco, Phillips 66, etc.

FWIW!

I use Chevron "Tecktron" 93 octane for both our 04 4Runner and 05 S2000. However, I'm sure that most gasolines are just fine providing that the octane is the proper rating for the specific vehicle. Down here in South Florida, a few months ago, Shell and either Mobil and/or BP had a problem with distribution of bad gas. The bad gas resulted in failed fuel sensors in numerous gas tanks that required replacement.

I usually use Mobil. I started doing that years ago when Mobil had more detergent than most other gasolines, and I had a car with fuel injectors that tended to clog up if there wasn't enough detergent in the gasoline.

Now it's mostly out of habit. I do stay away from the no-name stations. It would be nice if gas stations were required to provide more information about how much and what kind of oxidizer and octane booster was in their gasoline and such. The S2000 owner's manual warns against certain additives.
