Since I was not able to get the details of the transmission from the manufacturer's web site, I had to find it in a third-party web site. And the gear ratio is given as:

5th 1.000
6th 0.838

This certainly sounds legitimate. But I really did observe there was no change in the RPM shifting between these two gears at a constant 65 MPH. Thanks for all the discussions.

We have a WINNER!!! Has anyone else test driven the 2004 6-speed Crossfire (not the SRT)? It was very strange that the RPM did not change when I shifted back-and-forth between the 5th and 6th gears. The test drive was on a level freeway, cruising at a constant 65 MPH. If anyone else has any experience with the car, plese let us know. I am not interested in the car, but Chrysler sent me an invitation to go and test drive it, so I did.

Edit: By the way, I don't own stock in Chrysler/Mercedes. I just did not want the thread to digress into Crossfire or Chrysler bashing.

my ignorant guess.

Maybe at 65mph the difference in gearing is close enough plus the sensitivity of the tach is off enough that it didn't show a difference?

Funny how none of the car magazines noticed that fifth and sixth gears are identical. I wonder why that is.

(That was sarcasm, for the record.)

I vote for troll -- I bet there's a link on another forum pointing to this thread titled, "Look at how dumb Honda fans are!"
