I had it a couple of times as a rental from National. It was not a good experience. It may have been because it was a "rental" but it only had 3,600miles. To me it felt weak, there were rattles galore, the thing felt really rear heavy.
Yes the Panoramic roof is cool, but the way it operates is weird. I'd be pissed if I paid $60k+ for it. At 20k, may be a worthwhile look.

A heavily depreciated used model in good shape would probably be a pretty good buy. My dad and I test drove a V8 model a few years ago when his truck was in the shop and we were both impressed with the powertrain and handling. It's a decent ride used, but I would never buy a new one unless it was $20k off.

I have an 07 V6 AWD as the family hauler. My girlfriend doesn't need a V8, and I don't drive it enough to fork over the extra cash.
The 07s interior was upgraded and is much nicer than the previous model years. I saw an 06 V8 when shopping for ours and did not like the interior at all on the 06.
The car has sufficient grunt in 06 guise, but it's not fast, but it's not a lane clogger by any means. We did have an issue with the car that I think is basically a one off problem of a wire being shorted out below the console area. This happened after a week of owning the car, and took about a month to find, and a day to repair. Not a pleasing start to our GM experience, but the car has been bulletproof since.
The seats are great, the mirrors are fine. They are big enough when set correctly you don't need to look over your shoulder. The nav is ok. I hate all the lockout features. The heated seats are excellent. The one issue is with the material they use for the vent near the window reflects a glare. I ignore it, but it is there. Better yet, my girlfriend has never mentioned it to me as an issue.
If you have any other questions, let me know. I obviously can't help you about anything with the motor. But that's a damn good price, and if you can get past the interior, I'd go for it.
If you go to cadillacforums.com, there is a forum for the SRX, not quite an active board, but active enough to get questions answered.

C&D loved 'em and felt they had good driving dynamics for what they were. I had no idea resale was so bad on them. I say go for it if it ticks the boxes you need.

We finally drove one and it was a great ride. The V8 has a lot of grunt. The handling is nice and tight. The steering is very very light, no effort needed. It feels very heavy. The concerns I have are the fuel economy, reliability, and resale in 2-3 more years. The owner of the car I test drove said he only average 15 mpg.

The low resale is probably because Caddy doesn't have the handling reputation of the BMW or Merc (true or not). At the same time they don't have the reliability reputation of the Japanese, Lexus mostly (again, true or not). As such the vehicle is not getting as much credit as it might deserve. I also think the dull interior of the older models didn't help.

The low resale is probably because ...
your are thrifty
you buy it because of lo initial cost. NOT... even thrifty stupid knows cost of ownership
you can afford the gas
then you buy a higher rated vehicle for; interior style, reliability, towing capacity etc
you only drive it around town
then you drive it till the tank is empty first time.
there are just alot of options, unless the $10-20K is on fire in your pockets

I think it is ANOTHER overpriced SUV.

wow... I just checked ebay as well. For some reason, some of Cadillac's cars just don't hold their value, look at the Catera for instance... I guess, I'm going against what a lot of the people in this thread have said, but I think the SRX looks really nice in person.
SRX lightly used is a good value imo... get a warranty if you can find one
