Default What do you guys do with your Car Mags

I have been collecting car mags since the late 80's. I probably have every C&D issue, most of the COY/ICOY issues from MT, and many of the Exotic car mags published by R&T. Oh, and I have every CR car issue since 1990. Over the last 15+years, that leads to lotsa boxes of mags.

With the internet, I can pull up most of the articles I might be interested in. So I have been thinking of keeping the magazines for a couple of months and then dropping it off in my waiting room. I'm sure the magazine will be gone within 2-3 days, but atleast somebody else will get to enjoy it. Besides my wife has been bugging me to put it in the attic or to get rid of it.

What do you guys do with your older car mags?

I keep all my C&D I don't even lend them out any more because somebody didn't give one back. I think I have them back to around 1988 or so. You can't pull that kind of stuff off the net. I still go back and find articles about F40 or 300ZX to see what they had compaired to today's cars.

All the other mags I get MT, R&T, Automobile, SCI, CAR etc I give out to guys that like to read them. Unless there is a noteworthy article then I keep them.

If you have that many C&D mags don't give them to a waiting room, people won't care. But you may be able to sell the set on E-bay. IMO

I keep them on bookshelves in my attic. I love having them, especially when I start looking at cars I hadn't thought about buying when they first came out, like the Miata, s2k, etc.

I keep them boxed up. I always like reading magazines from 5+ years back. It's almost like opening up a time capsule.

I could never bring myself to just throw them out.

I have been buying car magazines from 1995, the year my father bought his first new car, a red Toyota Camry LE V6 sedan. Ever since then I subscribed to Motor Trend, so I have every single month of Motor Trend from January 1996. Also, I have subscribed Automobile Magazine for three years(I think is from 2000-2002 or something like that lazy to go check) and many issues of Road and Track. Right now I am still subscribing Motor Trend and Car and Driver. I want to cancel my weekly Autoweek subscription because many of the info are redundant. I rather subscribe to other types of magazine with the Autoweek money such as People or some basketball magazine. I want to subscribe to Playboy or FHM but with my family.....nahhhhhh forget it........Anyways, I still maintain them in my drawers, I am thinking about throwing away some of the Hong Kong version of Car and Driver away since I don't read them anymore so get more space for the upcoming car mags.

As rai suggested, some of you may want to consider selling your collections. I'd be quite interested in picking up older Car and Driver and/or Road & Track magazines, as my collection only goes back to around 2000.

If anyone wants to let go of theirs, PM me.

I have 100's of them dating back to the early 70's and a few even older. They're all in boxes in my garage if they didn't get tossed with other old boxes that hadn't been touched in years the last time we moved. Now I just read them and toss them for the most part.
