1969 Porshe 911S. No power steering, light weight, Bosch mechanical injection.
Downside is big$ to repair.
From a fun factor, no reasonably priced car can match the S.

I would also have to say the Miata...because the Miata has much less power you can drive it at 90% almost everywhere...its fun driving a car at its limits even if you are not going that fast.
Although I wanted a faster car the S is so fast that I can rarely drive it at more than 50%...its just not legal.
My Pathfinder although a bore to drive on the road is very rewarding once you leave the pavement...a week in Baja on dirt mountain roads searching for surf can be very very fun.

There are several stock cars more fun.
Elise
Noble
Caterham
Porsche GT
probably every Ferrari ever built
The deal is there is no car that offers a better combination of price, features,
comfort, and most of all reliability along with the fun. IMO

I've been thinking (dreaming is more like it) of buying a Ferrari 308 or 328. Has anyone here had experience with one of those cars?
From what I read, the Elise is way more fun than the S, but pricey and less practical.

He got it on Ebay for like $50K and then spent $10k in maintenance. The S would smoke it with it's 220HP V8!

An Elise. Funnest car I've driven hands down. The power is there if you want to use it (very easy), it's light, you can literally feel the tires gripping into the pavement, and it's raw.
Porsche GT2. Best sportscar I've driven period, not as fun as the Elise due to high costs, but an amazing, amazing car.
Miata (NA). One of my favorite cars, and I'm expecting to get back into them later this year (winter time, when prices come down). When you add massive suspension work, and you slam it (as mine was), it has the same feeling as when I drove an Elise...

I have to agree with everyone who thought their Miatas were fun. It was such an easy car to jump into and drive quickly down a winding road. I love the S, but the Miata seem to have more character, and I am starting to miss it. We need to pick up a first gen for a daily beater, that would be the best of both worlds.

Sold my '93 RX-7 2 weeks ago to get an S. Sure the RX-7 is a alot of fun especially when the second turbo kick in... but ... the reliability issues took all the fun out of the car because you afraid to pushed it because something will break... and it do very often.

A few cars I've driven that I've enjoyed FAR more than the S2000
Lotus Exige
e30M3
550 Maranello
993 C2S
996 GT3
74 911RSR
In general these cars are more focused, steering in any of these cars feel miles better than S2000, not necessarily quicker, but more feelsome through the helm of the wheel. Cars which are more composed on limit with communicative steering are more fun to drive fast.

Once I have the space for a 4th car I'm getting another one...94-95, stripping it down, no windows, no top, no power anything...just a seat, engine, and wheels...its a grown mans go cart
