What car would you get under $10,000?

finding a mk2 mr2 under 10k is easy. the max you should pay for an unmolested turbo mr2 should be around 6-7k.
I almost bought a 95 MR2 Turbo instead of the S2K but decided to go new instead. The one I was looking at had a 18k asking price with 30,000 miles. You can find them for less, but this one was flawless.
93's and below go for the price range you specified though

88 CRX Si.
I just bought one that I'm building for auto-x and I hardly drive my S2000 any more and when I do it feels heavy and numb. I'm actually thinking of selling it. Funny hunh?

Wow I was looking at mr2's before I got my S and you could easily find a 01 or so for around 11-12. I'm sure you could talk someone down a little. Its the dead of winter for goodness sake

2000 or 2001 Honda Prelude 5 speed. A lot better looking than accord, definitely more fun than Accord and Honda reliability. Plus you can get a good 2000 model for about $8,000, with less than 100K miles on it.

I'd suggest a '91 or so Celica GT. Mine has 104k and runs like new. Style is still contemporary and retail is probably $2-2.5k.
I refused to trade this car when I purchased my new S2K (didn't even ask).
I just spent $900 on this car to replace struts and boots, battery, tires etc. Quite a bit of money that equaled about half the cars retail worth.
Probably not real easy to find anymore but their still around if you look hard enough.
As with any used car, make sure you get a good one and save yourself $6-7000.

glagola1, it's funny, I'm not missing my S2000 (much). I'm damn happy with my civic and am constantly thinking of new projects. Looks like it's getting a turbo motor over the winter. The Type-R motor's going to be oiled and bagged and sat in a corner 'till I blow up the turbo motor.
I'd get a 4 banger Accord. The 6's are problematic. Most of the other car's mentioned here aren't reliable enough for DD usage. I do like the 240's but, there just aren't many unmolested ones and they're hard to work on. RX-7's are to be avoided. They're all maintainance nightmares. I'd steer clear of Mitsu's too.
If you can find one for the price the Mazda 6 is an awesome DD.

I would look at 95-99 mitsubishi GSX,GST or you could look at the 95-99 eagle talon TSI which is pretty much the same thing as the eclipse. They are good car if you dont find one ragged out.
