Good find.
My old BMW (1994 5 series) steered great and it had a nice tranny too. But I agree with those guys on that forum, the S is special.

Never thought the S2000 steering was that great. It's electric and artificial feeling with little feedback. It's very precise and gets the job done no problem, but it doesn't deliver the tactile feedback of a Porsche or good BMW IMO.

Here's what I rank (that I've driven) above my M3 in terms of steering feel
- Lotus / Evo VIII
- Porsches - Cayman S, GT3
- maybe my old '90 CRX Si (too long ago to be sure, but it did have nice unassisted steering feel)
The S2000 would probably rank somewhere in between '08+ and pre-'08 Vette's.

Having driven some of the cars generally considered to have the "best steering feel", including: CRX Si, Boxster S, '86.4 944 race car, '86 911, NSX (no power steering version), Lotus Elise... IMO the S2000 is superior to them all. (I'm making a qualitative judgment, btw, not quantitative.)

No idea what S2000 those guys are driving, but no S I ever drove had feedback through the wheel. Fast ratio, nice weight, very very precise, yes. Great turn-in thanks to the car's chassis, definitely. An understanding of the road surface and the tire's connection to it as transmitted through the steering wheel to the drivers hands, uhhhh... no.

For me, the best boosted (electric or hydraulic) steering feel I've ever experienced was in my old '91 240SX. Weirdly enough, the steering in my '95 240SX was slow, vague, and rubbery-feeling, pretty craptastic (the suspension and engine in the S14 were also underwhelming compared to the S13).
I was never impressed with the E36 M3's steering, though it got rave reviews from the usual suspects.
S2k steering is alright, imo. Not the best, but not bad.
I definitely feel a LOT more through my '71 240Z's manual rack, but then the slow ratio and giant-diameter thin-rimmed steering wheel detract a bit from the overall steering feel experience. Not to mention, it's a bit more physical WORK to hustle the car around the track.
Totally different from the S2k, but I enjoy them both

The car with the most feedback I've driven to this day has been a 2004 BMW 328ci

I don't track my car and I'm not what you would call an aggressive driver so my opinion is based strictly on the car being used for leisure driving. I do however live in an area with some of the best sports car turf around so the feel of the car is important for me.
To me the steering works well with the communicative chassis and balance/weight of the car just fine.It is one of the more enjoyable rides I have owned and since I added the KW high boost charger ( 2 years now-zero problems) the car is near perfect for my needs.
