Are we ever going to see weight go down with new cars?

I guess another thing is the cars are usually getting larger.
I mean the Accord is like the old Legend, and the Civic is more like the old Accord. I don't see a lot of CRX types (1700 lbs).

the NSX is actually lighter than ours. They weigh in at 2750. Aluminum is great but expensive in terms of accidents and damage. Ferrari, Audi, now Jaguar and BMW, Alcoa must be loving the new market they've found. One of my favs, the E36 M3 LTW or CSL. Only a few hundred produced (maybe less, I forget)Aluminum doors, no AC, no leather, less sound deadening material, no sunroof, ect ect ect., thats awesome. -Anthony

The new Rolls is made mostly out of aluminum. It weighs 5500 lbs, but if it was made out of steel it would weigh 6700 lbs. It's a huge car at 20 feet long with 31" tall tires.
