Default VW XL1

http://www.vwvortex.com/news/volkswa...s-green-light/

2 cylinder diesel (800cc) mated to a hybrid plug-in. If this thing was cheap (hell not at approx 1800 lbs) I'd scoop one up for my commuter.

It looks like VW recycled some old Insights.

This car will not be cheap by any normal person's standard. I'd be shocked if it was less than $40k. $50k+ is more likely. That's before tax incentives, of course.

That's what I never understood with these hybrids. People buy them to save money on fuel but will spend 25-50k (depending on car) to do so. You can buy a 92-00 Civic for 2-5k depending on mileage and get 30+ mpg all day long.

Except this car gets more than 250 MPG and would have a warranty, modern car with nav, etc.

These cars are a very important first step. If you want a glimpse into the future, this car is it. The technology isn't mainstream just yet, but we are getting closer with every revision.

People always juatify stupid things with praticality. For instance, I'm gonna wear this everyday so I should byy a rolex vs juat saying dang it I want a rolex. In this situatiob its justifying buying a brand new car when your brain is telling you buy something more in your price range.
