Yeah, On hwy trips using cruise control I can usually average around 30-31 mpg. On this trip I did not use cruise and I was very light on any throttle input. I was just curious to see what I could get if I tried. I am still pretty surprised. High flow CAI, headers and tuning, the LS2 is a very efficient package.
What rpm range is it in at highway speeds? I would think that would have a lot to do with it. My Civic is around 3500-4000 at 70-80mph. The LSx is probably loafing along just above idle.

Sounds like you get about the same mpg as my 400+hp 335i...that's pretty crummy mileage for a slow Rabbit.

Derryck, you were supposed to update your thread on your mods for the 335i, weren't you?

My 1.8T GTI is in the 3200-3500 range between 70 and 80 mph, which is not bad. If I had the 6-speed tranny it'd probably be a bit lower.

My mileage in the WRX (2.0 L not the current 2.5L) is 23-27 mpg on premium, but the two cars couldn't feel more different.

I guess the people buying Rabbits are just big fans of VW, which is basically true for my friend. She thinks it looks cute, and her BF talked her into getting the ground FX kit.

^^ I think the Corrolla does better than all of those^^
I do like the 1.8 in my Corolla. I get 32 around town and about 40 on the highway. The engine makes plenty of torque down low and there is plenty of passing power by simply downshifting. I usually get about 400 miles per tank, which is alot more than the Fit will ever get.

The reason these cars get crap mileage is that they are no longer even remotely lightweight, the Wabbit is 2800 lb.

An early 90s Civic VX got 55mpg. Now THAT was a cool car!

Modern "small" cars are for the most part GROSSLY overweight.

Time to jack up the CAFE, IMO, I want smaller lighter cars!

The Rabbit ~3100 lbs.

The Accord is heavier more powerful and rated at 26/34.

There are a lot of heavier cars that get better mileage.

As pointed out a Vette has 3x the power and more weight and gets similar mileage (rated 18/28).
