Default VW Concept R

Would you consider this as your next car?

Exterior is pretty cool, the rear is a bit to round. The interior SUCKS.

Oh yeah and, depending on price, and if they changed the interior, yeah I would consider that for my next car.

I wouldn't wory too much about the interior style. The concept car on which the S2000 was based was a bit over-the-top too but it got more practical by the time it was released.

But how about those specs? If they bring it in for the same sort of price as an S2000 it would certainly get my attention.
265 horsepower
Lots of torque
19 inch wheels
Sequential-shift gearbox
Mid-engine
VW reliability

On the other hand the creature comforts make it start to sound like a BMW - climate control, adjustable seats etc.
The all-important stuff on the steering, handling and stopping etc is still to come.

I'll quote from the Sept 8th issue of Autoweek, here's the last paragraph.

"VW sees its roadster challenging MR2, Mazda Miata and the expected-to-be-announced Pontiac Solstice on pricing, while its performance and curb appeal are designed to push BMW Z4, Mercedes SLK and Boxster."

If it has 261 hp/253 lb-ft of torque and is Miata-priced, it will be a bargain. I don't see how they can sell it for under $30K.

Car must really lack in quality if it has such nice specs and is that cheap.

No offence camaro drivers...but yeah, that quality comes to mind.

it looks pretty nice...however this is sorta jumping to a new level for VWs...usually they are boxy little cars...now the aerodynamics of their cars are changing...

on the other hand take a look at their new Golf mkV...totally new design...IMO its just plain nasty
