Considering the R4 is set below the TT, and this car will probably be the VW version, I'd say the sticker of 34k they're targeting makes sense.

With the 2.0T motor and DSG, this could be a very, very entertaining car, especially with a few light mods to the motor.

I'm very interested to see the Porsche version, though. Thing is, this looks front-engined, not mid- or rear-engined. Is Porsche going to go with that layout for the baby Boxster?

Don't be fooled by the picture. It's Mid Engine.

You're right. I thought the concept was but didn't see it in the text above. I see it in there now.

I'm not holding huge hopes for a new, aluminum, mid-engine chassis roadster being affordable after seeing how much money they want just to take a stupid trip down their corporate parts bin.
sums it up

VW got balls to price the Phaeton and Toureg accordingly(high). I doubt they'll be scared with this.

Hey...even at $40K I would consider it. I am not a fan of the 370Z which I guess would be the only competitive car to this one, at least in terms of price. I expect the biggest hurdle VW might have is convincing people to pay this much for a sports car with a 4 cylinder engine--although that wasn't too much of a problem for Honda.

You know, at the end of the day it's still a VW. After watching 3 spontaneously burst into flames and burn totally to the ground plus having to help my daughter and my son have to continually fight electrical, AC, starting and window gremlins on 3 different VWs I can't imagine this car will appeal to many beyond diehard VW fanbois

Pic looks cool but I will reserve judgment until I see a US price.
