That's not a racing heritage, but an amateur weekend fun. THIS is a racing heritage!

Not racing, but still cool!

Let me repeat, no other automaker has such an extensive racing venue and heritage. One would have to be an extreme idiot to scoff at a brand with such an extensive heritage. It's OKAY to scoff at Volvo's "racing heritage".

Volvo boys (or other boys), scoff at those!!!

Ok, I can also put pictures up of many lower tier comapny cars that are moddified to race. Does it make it a racing brand? Not to say honda is THE best but better than volvos in the racing department.

i still think you're missing the point. saying that honda has no racing heritage is not what the average person is saying. he/she is saying that racing around in honda civic/other economy honda is something that a lot of people consider funny/pathetic. no one is saying honda's professional race history is inadequate or not extensive.
-Chris
Well, you didn't say "racing Civic", you said "racing Honda". When the Honda brand is involved, its whole heritage is involved. Yes, yes, Honda does make economy cars (its bread 'n butter, btw), and ignorant people may just look at that fact instead of learning its racing/sporting heritage. I knew what your original point was, but I was uneased that some "Volvo person" or anyone else would not know Honda's association with racing and scoff at its whole brand. Believe you me, there are a lot of domestic and Euro drivers who scoff at Honda brand because they make economy cars and without knowing its racing involvement when it's so obvious.

Hence, I still maintain, it's more okay to scoff at "racing Volvo" than "racing Honda". When someone scoffs at "racing Volvo", that person is still much, much less ignorant than the one scoffing at "racing Honda", because Volvo's racing heritage is almost non-existent compared to Honda's. An average person wouldn't know of Volvo's racing pedigree, but SHOULD know of Honda's racing involvement because it's everywhere.

Ok, I've said enough regarding this matter. It gave me a chance to post some of the cool pics, to boost my "fanboi" status. Me is Honda fanboi! Yeehawwww!!!

[QUOTE=PedalFaster,Feb 18 2007, 05:23 PM] Volvo was producing sports cars before Honda was producing cars, period, you genius:

I agree that Honda's racing participation in the years since has been significantly greater than Volvo's, but that doesn't make your pointless fanboi-ism any more idiotic.

Yep, I'm a Honda (and Toyota) fanboi. But it's better to be a fanboi on winning teams than stubborn, ignorant idiots on losing teams.
I've never seen someone consistently make other folks point more often than you. Nobody is talking about significance of anybody's freaking racing teams. The point was that Volvo has experience racing cars. How fing hard is that to understand? Oh, and they were doing it before there was a HONDA!

Volvo, though, instead of focusing on any racing prowess, decided to market their cars to US consumers as SAFE cars. And guess what, they do that very well. I'm sure if Volvo wanted to market a real sports car, I'm sure they could, but sports cars are not looked as safe, so it doesn't fit with their brand image.

Geez, grow up.
