Unhappy Vollkswagen's super-turbo engines...

Anyone see the blurb in the new issue of C&D about VW using superchargers and turbos on an engine? The article mentioned that VW had a working sample 1.4 liter straight-4 with a supercharger and a turbo making 168hp. They say VW may consider doing this on more of its engines if it pans out.

But why make it so complicated? MINI squeezes 200 hp out of a 1.6L with just a supercharger.

The Mini Cooper S does not have 200hp stock. It has 168 stock from a supercharged 1.6.

What logic? He says $30,000 and you ramble off a list of cars that most of which have MSRP's over $30k. I could make my lawnmower have 200hp for well under 30 grand but whats that matter? He was expressing his opinion that the Mini is over priced and he would rather have at Golf turbo don't take it so literally.

Edit for gramer

Didn't Pontiac have a one off concept twin charged Fiero back in the 80'S? I thought I remember doing a plastic model kit of it back in high school.
