So was the 1 series Triman. Now Infiniti and Mercedes are asking there engineers to go for it.

I think Audi has an X6 competitor in the pipeline too.

Better buy for you. Dude, you ragged on the X6 since day 1.
I thought Infiniti beat BMW to the punch (by 6 years or so) on the sporty, coupe SUV concept and did it more gracefully too (albeit with less motor and interior quality for A LOT less $$$)???

I personally think it's even uglier in person.
I agree. Up close, the busy lines make it darn near impossible to take the design in as a whole. There are slashes, cuts, and sags all over the place. Not at all an attractive or cohesive design, IMHO.

No they didnt. The X6 is much more dramatic than the FX. The FX looks round a bean-like at the back. The X6's rear is more sharp and coupe-like. If BMW wanted to make it ''graceful'' they could have. IMO, the SUV looks more like a jacked up coupe than the Infiniti. The new versoin of the FX looks botched. I much prefer the first gen.

Hah! I won't make fun of you too much until later!

The car really does look much, much better in person than in photos. Most of the bangle designs are not photogenic, and though I prefer the E36 or E46 look, it's acceptable once you see it in person.

The driving dynamics make up for anything lacking in the looks department. Anyways, if I wanted a car that would make people stop and stare, I would have kept my SVT Cobra, or Boxster.

Well, the execution may be a bit different (and better, from a styling standpoint, on the FX), but I do think Infiniti deserves the credit for creating the "concept." May rags cite the FX as the inspiration for the X6. I also think that if BMW could once again make a decent-looking 5-series, the X6 would be seen by more as the pointless oddity it is. But, these are just my thoughts.

Infiniti does deserve credit for making it look sporty and elegant at the same time. Not making it look coupe-like at all. These cars look very different. The X6 looks much more aggresive. You obviously are biased since you bought two FX's. There is nothing wrong with that. How are you calling it pointless though? I looked at both the cargo areas in it and the FX. It has at least twice the cargo volume if not 3x. Correct me if I'm wrong. The FX is just as pointless.

I look forward to seeing the FX55 go against the Xdrive50i. The BMW will cost at least 7k more but it should be an interesting shootout.

I'm not biased. I'm not married to a car (never understood why people seem so personally invested in a car that will be replaced by something else eventually). They will both be replaced within a year or so. We, actually, went shopping today for a replacement for the '05 (drove an ML350 and E350 wagon...liked the FX better than both, though...). Anyway, I think your claim re. cargo capacity has gotta be wrong, but I'm too lazy to google the stats. The FX does have a point for us, our dog fits in the back, pretty comfortably, even. There's no way Big Lucy's fittin' in the back of an X6 (I've checked it out at our local BMW store) with that roofline.

The car looks stubby and disproportionate in many of the photos I have seen.

Actually, it is a tight well proportioned package that drives even better than it looks (and that's a big compliment considering how well it appeared to me in person).

First BMW I have ever driven and really wanted.

You should do one like this but for when you buy the GTR... j/k.

Yeah, the 1 series is something.
