Definitely an F40... and something was definitely up with the validity of this particular video / car / driver. F40's are wicked fast and handle like nobody's business... plus the driver of the Elise nearly plowed the F40 at least once... I don't give him any credit for "beating" the F40 - I bet the owner of the F40 wanted to put some distance with the Elise driver so he wouldnt' t-bone his beauty... so he let him move along to threaten other traffic...

yeah, that's a stock elise!!
he keeps braking late and cutting the porsche and F40 off. I'm sure they were all really happy about that. The elise is way way way too fast to be stock though.
As far as the F40 handling like nobody's business..the same can be said about the elise, but it also weighs much much less.

Are you sure about the engine? I'd like to know some details ... like what tyres do the cars have? If the Elise has race-rubber while the others don't then it's not a 'fair' comparission as the tyres allow a lot later braking and much more cornering speed. Good race-rubber will give you good 20mph extra over road-rubber.
Also, what about the enigne ... any idea as even the Elise has at least 4 different engine varaints in Europe?

Lotus does NOT offer the Honda engine from the factory.
The are companies out there that will do a transplant however.
This car is not a 190S.
It also appears that the other cars are not pushing as hard as the Elise.

While it was fun to watch, if a guy drove like that at one of our open track days, he would be quickly banned.
Our track days, as well as the one in the vid, have a huge range of capability from both cars and drivers. "full race" passing like that is just asking for huge repair bills for somebody.
What do you think it costs to repair "light side damage" on a F40? Probably more than a new Elise!

Fun to watch but doesn't prove anything. Twice the F40 driver was held going into a turn and the Elise dove up the inside. If I were the F40 driver I'd given the Elise a wide berth also, no use bending sheet metal racing an Elise.
These are the guys putting B18C5's in Elise's and this one wasn't Honda powered.
