Interesting....
I was on the autobahn near Munich two weeks ago, in the fastlane, waiting for someone to get out of my way (I was going 135mph). A red M6 caught up to me. He must have been going in excess of 160mph. I wasn't exactly going slowly but the way he caught me made me feel like I was standing still. I was under the impression that the M6 was limited to 155mph, but this guy was going well over that speed.
He tailgated for about 5 seconds and then chaged lanes and took the next offramp. At that point the idiot in front moved over into the slow lane and I passed him and went on my merry way to Frankfurt...
It's nice to see a car like that in its natural element

You are talking about a 500 hp 06' model vs. a 415 hp car thats been out since 2001. Would be similar comparing the 396 hp previous generation M5 to a 500 hp new gen. car. I would say wait until the new 480-500 hp 997/911TT comes out & it would be a bit different.

well, I'm sure they would have compared it to the million hp 911TT that comes out in 2045, but, hey, that's a few years from now :/

Your comparison is pretty lame. If you compare an 06' to an 07' that is not far off the mark. They are comparing an 06' car to a car that was introduced in 01' Back then the M cars had 400 hp, and the 415 hp turbo was faster. The different car makers introduction cycles are at different times. They introduced the car for 06', the Porsche will be at the end of next year.
however, the M6 is a 4000 pound vehicle, the TT is a 3400 pound vehicle.
i wouldn't have thought that an additional 85 HP would overcome a 600 pound deficit - in the manner depicted in the video (annihilation).
the comparsion stands on it's own merit as the TT is porsche's latest and greatest TT (in the absence of a successor).....and the M6 is BMW's latest and greatest coupe.
would a GT2 be a better comparison?? probably not as it's a "stripper" car....it's purpose built.....not to mention the price difference.

The M6 and 5 are real beasts -- Porsche was an auto though.
Can you actually see the tranny in the Porsche?
