Whats the point vs the m3? Well if really ends up costing 45k then that's 30% less than an m3 coupe. Sounds like a valid point to me. Sure you can add 20k worth of options, but same goes for the m3 and that'll end up costing 75k. Of course it would be nice if BMW trimmed 200lbs and 5k off the sticker but its a cheaper, smaller M car. What's to complain about?

Going to be alot more than 45K fully equiped. You can spend that on a loaded manual trans 135 now. With all the options, I bet this car is 55k to 60k.

Buying a stripped BMW is pointless IMO.

I'd buy a stripped roadster as a 3rd car, but any other car is going to be optioned up to where I never catch myself wishing I'd sprung for comfort access, nav, satellite, xenons...etc.

A total stripper would be tough to unload once it starts breaking, too...

I'm driving a base model 2011 328i right now (the loaner) and i wonder who would pay 35-40k for that instead of a loaded accord or camry.

I guess for a typical BMW owner that may be true. Then again, how many folks on this forum are typical BMW owners?

People who truly love to drive could care less about those frilly luxury features. I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to find someone like that when time to sell - especially if the price was right.

Yah I'm on the opposite side of that. More elctro-wiz == more things that will break. I ordered mine with just leather seats, seat heaters, and the upgraded stereo and it was perfect. I'll use Garmin for nav, thanks (and it will be superior).

This looks amazing. I can't wait to see more pics and specs. I'm pretty sure that is the head of the M Division in the cockpit. They widened the track so much that is now wider than an M3?

If you're talking about the N54, it doesn't have a "literally flat" torque curve. It falls 80+ WHP at redline. The M3 has a flat TQ curve.
I'm talking about my supercharged M54B30 which has between 250 and 300 ft-lbs from 2000 to redline.

The N54 is within 20% of it's max torque from 2000 rpm to 5500 and then drops a bit, but nothing spectacular. A juice boxed N54 maintains power even higher (which is probably more comparable to this engine than a stock N54).

The S65's torque builds up to 4,000 rpm and is then flat.

The M3's base price is $58K, why would a lesser model be just as expensive?

A Vietnamese pot-bellied pig is not a beast, but a domesticated farm animal.

I have no doubt this car will be fast and fun, but man oh man, the looks! I can never choose this over a Boxster/Cayman, Z4M, etc.
