I thought a C6 was a 2800lb car..
They say 3179 or 3214. The lazy people just say 3200.

WTF? That's some interesting cross shopping. $35k or some retarded price for a VW, or another car that's like $10k-$15k more.
I looked at a 370Z, C6 Z51, IS-F, Cayman S PDK and some others, the price range was from the high 30s to $71k+.
I knew I wanted to spend less than $71 and probably more than high 30s, but at the end of the day it was about fit for my needs and value...which doesn't necessarily mean the price has to be a in a tight range.

340 hp in this car, with the shorter wheelbase and M suspension tuning, should make it a lot of fun. If it's "only" $45K, I'd actually say it's a pretty good deal since as others pointed out, only a Corvette is really going to offer better performance in a RWD sporty car. You can get an Evo X or STi for less money and similar performance but they're both going to have less cachet and will probably still be slower in a straight line. They're both AWD, too, which isn't always desirable, especially if you're in a warmer environment and don't need it.

Good point - I'd forgotten about the 5.0 Mustang. The Mustang is going to be fast in a straight line and it's also quite quick around a road course. I don't think it would beat this car in subjective handling (turn in, precision, etc, etc) but it ultimately may be a faster car.
I sat in a Roush 427 on Monday night and it just felt so big in every way. This car is going to feel a lot tidier, probably, which will mean a lot to some people (me included).
Still, $45K vs $35K with easier financing on the Mustang, better rebates and discounts and ready aftermarket support. Throw in the probability that the Mustang will probably be less finicky, more reliable (normally aspirated usually is) and well supported even by Ford for accessories and performance parts and it's a pretty strong argument.
