VIDEO: BMW 1-series M Coupe Officially Revealed

I think most of the sauce is in the suspension. And they did remove some of the belly sag, though not all. There are some still frames on 1addicts.com that show the car from the side. The oddest looking part to me is the rear, especially the lower half. It's very...busy.
As a former 135i owner, this car has me conflicted. It looks awesome, and I'm sure it will be, but I'd bet anything it will still be plagued with HPFP issues since it's still powered by the N54.
Also color options are really weak (black, white, orange).

Considering the base engine is underrated at 300 hp and most places are saying 340-350 hp, it's probably pretty competitive with those cars (assuming 320-330 at the wheels and the relatively flatter torque curve from a turboed engine). I know for a fact my car will easily take a base Corvette (I'm at 320 at the wheels and 3000 lbs), so this should be competitive assuming it's 10% heavier.
Every first drive has commented about the absence of understeer (one of the biggest complaints about the 1 series), so I'm willing to bet it'll take a corner pretty well. With a shorter wheelbase than the 3 series it should also feel more responsive and go-kart like in turn-in. I'm not saying it'll be better or worse than the competition, but I think it'll be competitive.

That's some crazy maths.
Math works out too. 323 whp = 380 at the crank assuming 15% loss. Base corvette has 400 (assuming pre-2008). My Z4 weighs in right at 3000 with the supercharger. The C6 is 3200 lbs.
That means the C6 has 5.3% more power and 6.7% more weight. Factor in my FAR more aggressive gearing (thanks to 3.46 gears from the 3.0si vs. 3.07 stock) plus the literally flat torque curve, and it makes sense.

Alrighty, was hoping to get the next GTI R (if VW brings it over) but I think this is going to be my next car w/ Competition pkg of course. Probably have to wait another year for that option to come out.

That's not crazy maths. It's crazy reality. From about 55. It wasn't that close either.
