Video reveal: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=463218
Looks exactly like the renders some BMW fans did earlier. Which is a good thing!

If I didn't know better, I'd think they didn't want us to actually see the car based on how that video was edited.
In all seriousness, this could be epic. The numbers look good, but it's nothing a ricer can't get out of the standard car with a chip. For this car to be succeed, it will depend on the ///M team putting the special sauce on it to make it into a pure driver's car.
Personally, I'd like to find out myself.

Like the idea but I wonder how much less than an M3 it's going to weigh? If it's not much, I'm not sure why I'd sacrifice the practicality and interior space of the M3 for this. I guess cost will be a factor but a 1-Series loaded up like a similar 3-Series isn't that much cheaper.
7000 rpm redline means a turbo motor, too, which means that it should scoot pretty well.

Alrighty, was hoping to get the next GTI R (if VW brings it over) but I think this is going to be my next car w/ Competition pkg of course. Probably have to wait another year for that option to come out.

They're only kicking the rpms up maybe 1000 over the current 135 and putting out less than 350 hp, using the twin-turbo N54 motor. I'm guessing the bulk of the "special sauce" is going to be the steering wheel, seats and suspension. For ~$45K + dealer markup.
What they should do is get rid of that sagging belly line. That would change the equation for a surprising number of people. It's a cliche, but you can't outrun ugly.
