Idiots who have never owned a luxsury car sure seem to think they know everything about them. BTW I really liked the way lexus bought a cheap and crappy Top Gear wannabe "shootout".

I'm really torn as to which of these new cars in this class I like the most. BMW seems to have the advantage on the track and, for me, from a looks standpoint (not fond of any of them, really, but the Bimmer is probably the best looking to my eyes).
However, I think it has surfaced and resurfaced that unless you're tracking it (which I won't), or dumping the clutch on the street at 5k RPM (which I sure as hell won't), then the C63 and the ISF are wayyyyyyyyyy faster in street-start types of scenarios due to the massive torque in their motors. Several publications have mentioned this and the street start numbers support it. Don't get me wrong, I like winding out my motor to 8,000 rpm as much as anyone on the s2k board, but I'm not sure I want to be doing that in my uber-coupe all the time.
I guess when the time comes I'm just going to have to go drive all of these cars and pray my immediate impressions guide me the right direction...

totally agree with you. The IS-F and C63 BOTH trap higher than the m3.... the m3 is the slowest out of the bunch from a roll. In everyday driving situations I'm guessing the m3 would be a bit behind. I don't recall the member on this site... but one of our members test drove the is-f and the m3 and stated that in everyday driving situations the is-f is hands down the faster car.

"Rev to 3900rpms and quickly release the clutch while rolling onto the throttle."
The got 4.1 seconds to 60mph. 12.5@114.8mph

So who exactly paid for this review? Was this actually a magazine review or a manufacture sponsored review?
Either way, the Lexus just doesn't do it for me. No standard shift and trying to hard styling (the Germans are in danger in this area as well).
Either way, my blood just doesn't warm to either of the cars. Seriously, I bet the S2000 would lose to either of the cars. Who here wouldn't rather take the S2000 to the hills?
I would be more impressed if either of the cars actually LOST weight when changed into the "sport" version.

So supposedly in person the IS-F looks much better.
Be it so I already saw the blue one at the car show .. but yesterday I drove by the lexus dealership and there was this (dark red) one sitting next to regular IS 350s .....
It is a confirmation that it still isnt that special in the appearance column (IMO)
