Default used s2000 or 330ci as my daily driver

i am expecting a baby in june, i own a 2009 dodge charger, blk on blk on blk,
my wife drives a altima. and hates it. she wants my charger, and i figure thats ok, i can get me a other car as my daily driver.

so i figure, i give her the charger and i use either the s2k or e46 for me to drive during the week.

but i cant decide which i like more, i am in southern california .

here is what i am planning to do to either, springs, struts/shocks, intake, exhaust, and short shifter.

looking at manual trans, hard top coupes on the 330ci
and s2k's come in 1 model- convert and manual as you all know alread.

i cant afford the new 3 series so only looking at e46's under 12k
and s2k's under 12k.

i like the low clean look, not really into body kits and wings.

something like this

s2k ap1

what do you guys think i should get?????

i kinda was thinking a satin black m3 clone would look sick as a daily driver, but i am a sucker for slammed red s200's but i cant find any reds for cheap

Honestly, with a kid on the way I would get the BMW just in case the Charger breaks down and you still need to do kid transport. However, if you are not concerned about that, then I would say drive each and make sure you can live with an S daily (I do and love it but its not for everyone).

Are you sorry for the size of the charger?

Seriously, looks good, man.

If you're coming from a charger, I'd get the 330 and see how things go. The kid might shift your priorities and the backseat might come in handy.

me and my wife really only use 1 car as it is, and the charger has enough room for the baby,

also i have had 2dr sports cars all my life, the charger is my first 4dr.

and the kid wont be riding in the coupe with me. and i can always use the charger if needed.

For 12k, the E46 is gonna have highish miles. I owned a 01 330i, it was a great car, just sold it a few months ago with 8,800 miles on it. Can't say i had any problems with the car, but it was like new. With the BMW, be ready to shell out money on maintenance. Also, 330I's get pretty dismal fuel economy, but so do S2000's if you engage vtec on a regular basis. The S2000 is a lot more fun, but lacks the comfort factor (especially is you are over 6.0ft) and also may not be the safest option for your child.

S2000
Pro's
-Fun
-Fast
-Reliable
-Soft top

Cons
-Safety
-Comfort
-Practicality

330I
Pros
-Comfortable
-Refined and smooth
-Practical
-Safe
-Pretty quick

Cons
- Expensive to repair
- Not as fast as a S2000
- Pretty boring to drive
- Poor fuel economy
-You will always wish you bought a E46 M3

Buy a E46 M3.

i am 25 my record has nothing on it except reckless driving 2 years back, i hit a tree crossing the street at night.

and my insurance jumped 40 bucks.

i pay 150 right now for the charger full coverage

S2k only cuz you already got a sedan that'll serve another end of the spectrum in terms of your needs and desires. If you had no access to the charger, then I would consder the bmw.
And I do knock the bimmers a lot, but the mainstream cars like the 330 arent that bad in regards to maitennce, myfriends' experiences with them seem to be good except when they need to deal with their local dealer (so find a good local bmw tech shop), so I have no real basis to knock the e46 330s.

i am leaning towards s2000 because i have had a tons of differnt cars in my day

91- iroc
91 rx-7 turbo 2
89 rx-7 non turbo
94 prelude si 4ws
2003 accord
2004 mustang gt
2003 mustang gt
2001 integra gsr
2003 celica gt-s
98 turbo eclipse

and the honda's never gave me 1 problem and i drove them hard. also the integra felt real solid and quality. the bmw's look nice and solid but i have heard some negatives like

they dont feel sporty, the mechanics love seeing a bmw pull up to the shop. and gas milage is bad.

I've put on 50K daily driven miles in two years with the S and I have no regrets. My cousin had a 330ci and it was nice but it was also kinda boring. The S is more fun and if you need space, you always got the charger.

I vote for the S2000.

Quick Reply: used s2000 or 330ci as my daily driver
