Used RX-8 and G35 Coupe?

G isn't really very sporty IMO. The suspension is pretty soft and it weighs almost two tons.
The RX-8 is underrated. It handles very well, it's right on par with the 350z and s2000, superior to the G35 without question.
Just make sure either one is owned by an adult who didn't abuse it. More of a problem with the 8 but still an issue with older G's.
The G has more power but performance wise they are about the same. I'd take a 200hp 2000lbs car over a 400hp 4000lbs car any day FWIW.

0-60 on an RX-8 is under 6 seconds - hardly what I'd call slow. The RX-9 is the lighter car, and its driving characteristic reflects that - its like a four-door S2000. The G35 is a GT car - heavier, with a bigger engine and more torque, and it will drive with more weighted feel.
They are both good cars, but the G will get better gas mileage, and the RX-8 is only worth money if its a manual. You'll have to drive them both and make up your mind. You can find good RX-8s all day at 16-17k.

I know you want 2000 and newer but pleaaaaaassssseeeee check out a 1999 BMW M3.
Faster than the RX-8, handles better than the G35, backseats are very decent, and you can find a clean one for 18K.
It's ''only'' 240HP but the engine feels much stronger than the G35 or RX-8's
Seriously just test drive a manual clean STOCK 1999 M3 and then drive the 2 other cars.

Saki, the Accord does 0-60 in 6.3 and the 335i is under 5. Under six seconds was super car territory 20 years ago but alas side burns and plenty of mousse is no longer in fashion. Many expect speed and sharp handling to be the epitome of what a sports car is. Don't get me wrong the 8 is a great car in its own right but I just didn't want his brother to get disappointed at the stoplight if he was expecting otherwise.
To the OP - where is your brother looking, anyway? That may effect your choice as well.

That is a great BMW though.
