Ditto what JonBoy said. LS is probably the best match for Age 50+ folks.

Initially I was going to say the BMW but then I read the word "reliability" which pretty much throws BMW out the window all together. If you want a long lasting quality car, I would go Lexus

Lexus... you said reliability so that automatically rules out BMW.

P.S. 530i is not a sports car either, just has a tad more "sportiness" than the LS.

If it was the 540 I'd say hands down go with the Bimmer

My Dad has a 540 out of warranty and it is almost a nightmare. Weird stuff just fails like ball bearing shock mounts. And, the transmission is sealed, so no checking or changing the oil without major labor. I would only consider a BMW if it was under warranty. Never driven a Lexus, but my cousin had an older es300 and it also had some strange mechanical problems. My vote is for the Lexus for the long term.
