used ls430 or brand new 5 series
My parents are in the market for a new car and I was wondering what some of you guys would choose between a 2004-2005 Lexus LS430 or brand new BMW 530i. They will keep this car for more than 10 years so reliability is an issue. Their previous car was a 1994 Lexus ES300 which never had any problems. Anyone with any experience with these cars have any info? Thanks.

Would depend on the test drive and how picky they are on options and colors. If I were intending to keep the car "that" long, I would opt for new and in my color preference.
Your parents may not be that picky, and you should consider which design will look more dated in 10 years. Look at a Lexus and BMW from 1996 and decide which marque has a more timeless design.

Ditto what PLYRS 3 said. 
A used Lexus LS430 can be had for $25-$30K less than sticker at two or three years old. That's a BIG chunk of change.

Its easier to say Lexus for the older folks, but lets not judge. In my S i've encountered a lot of older bmw drivers that have given me hell. So it boils down to what they want and it seems lexus will be safer/ more reliable bet. BMW will be the sportier/nicer looking many yrs from now.
