not to sound like an ass, but it's pretty sad if a guy needs to use a car to pick up chicks
I agree, notice how I said it doesn't hurt. Put the two cars side by side and ask her which one she would rather go for a nice drive in? I rest my case.

If you are buying it for you alone and haven't got a family to worry about the S2000 with dedicated snow tires on all 4's is very capable in snow;just don't slam the car on springs

A hardtop only inhances the pleasure when the cold winds start to come in in November

Now if there is more than one in the household the Accord is the way to go.I recently drove an MY08 V6-6sp coupe and it is suprisingly quick..

There are 3 locally (Accord EX-V6 6sp's) offered for 27K including the Blue one that entertained me a couple of Saturdays ago
does one feel the cold air even if the top is up in a s2k? are the tops that flimsy? or is this common with all convertibles?

i dont feel cold air when the top is up. granted a convertible is not as well-insulated as a car with a real roof, i'd say insulation is satisfactory in the s2000

The S2000 is a wonderful car for car nuts. And the Accord is a wonderful car for normal people.

Are you a car nut or a normal person? I'm a nut and I'm on my second S2000. My girlfriend is normal, she has an Accord V6.

S2000 all the way if you don't have to worry about carrying more than one passengers.

If you do backseats, I would get EVO X.

i would suggest s2k + winter beater but if its really impossible then accord. the accord is a nice car with comforts.. but s2k... on the other hand.. is harsh on the ride yet so fun..

,however a hardtop would make it more agreeable as a winter ride

there's no wind (seal) noises or water leaks in mine if that's what you're after. but it's an uninsulated piece of canvas (or is it vinyl? i forget).

i just notice it being loud. if the owner never greased the metal structure, the top is pretty creaky/squeaky, but that's easy to fix by greasing all the joints (honda has a TSB on it). i can have a conversation with my wife on the highway, but not a quiet conversation.

the tops should only be flimsy against a razorblade, but you have to remember a canvas top is a wear item and after enough years it may need to be replaced if it hasn't been treated well.

being loud = all inexpensive/lightweight ragtops. canvas is NOT a good sound deadener.

being leaky = usually poorly maintained and now in need of replacement.

if you're wondering about heat/staying warm in the winter, the cabin area is so small the car gets warm almost immediately after the engine warms up. also, there's a DIY on how to install heated seats for neighborhood of $100-$200 and a few hours.

bottom line: an accord is more comfortable. but the s2000 is more than liveable, and it's a lot more fun.

Yes, the S would be a hard sell for my because of the winters in Chicago. I hated it in the NY winters. Not because of the snow that much, but because of the insane amount of salt and sand. Other than that, i think it's a fine daily driver. Might as well have fun right? As far as the Accord is concerned, I haven't driven the '08 but it's getting some nice reviews, but I'm not a big fan of FWD and I've never driven an Accord that was much fun in the handling department. Some people have recommended the G37 coupe. More power and of course, RWD is so much more rewarding. If my choice was between the Accord and the S, I'd grab the S in a heartbeat. If you can pick up a beater for the really crummy weather, that would be ideal. Good luck with your decision.
