TVR is back with a new Griffith...

Will it ever make it to the US?

Not to be negative here, but with nothing amazing looks wise, and nothing amazing power/performance wise.....and knowing that the price is going to be UP THERE like past TVR's.....I don't think it will sell well at all

While I agree that it's not the best looking car ever, I am very excited about it, and I'm not sure how a bunch of car guys wouldn't be. It weighs 2,700 lbs, guys. 2,700 freaking lbs with 500 hp and a manual transmission. Not to mention all the cool little details like that it was designed by Gordan Murray, has a carbon fiber and aluminum chassis, etc.
500 hp isn't groundbreaking in 2017, but the curb weight most certainly is. This thing weighs 4,000 lbs less than a C6 Z06. About 900 lbs less than a Mustang or Camaro. It's an s2000 with 500 hp. I don't understand what's not to love about that.
Also, unlike previous TVRs which used tube frame backbone chassis, this one has the goods to survive a side impact. Ergo, it's at least feasible it could be sold in the US, unless any TVR since crash regulations became a thing. If they bring them here for about $100k, I'll seriously consider buying one.

I'd just be concerned about servicing it or repairing it (especially the chassis). The engine and transmission seem stadanrd and easy. I like the idea of 500 hp in a light weight package. I personally have about 640hp in 3300-3400 lbs, and would like to see a special edition that has 600+...I don't know why...I just like that number!

It looks like a much nicer FT86 with some performance to back it.
I also see what looks like a traditional gear box and the lack of flappy paddles.
It should be fun and entertaining. It won't set any records, but if the drive is engaging - along the lines of a hard top s2000 with 500 HP as Mr.E.G. puts it - i'm certainly excited.
I'm tired of flappy paddle cars that weigh 3500lbs. being considered "light" and "nimble"...
All of that said - i'm a pleab that isn't the target market.

Ah, of course.
